EI Barranco del Infierno translates into 'Hell's Ravine' is one of the island's more popular, even if frightful sounding, natural attractions. The name has a chilling connotation, however the ravine is a calm and undisturbed gorge with very high cliffs and a thick covering of vegetation. This is an officially protected natural reserve with an evident hiking trail which is approx 6.5 km. The guided hiking path, irregularly shaped and rocky at some points, takes you through the gorge up to a magnificent natural waterfall. To protect the ecosystem, access is limited to 300 visitors a day and before arrival you are required to reserve to be able to hike. The trail is manageable and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to complete.
